The Marion Police Department is currently made up of fourteen full-time officers, including a Lieutenant, two Patrol Sergeants and a Detective Sergeant. The department also has eleven part-time officers. The Animal Control Division also falls under the jurisdiction of the Police Department, with one full-time and two part-time Animal Control Officers. Marion’s public safety dispatching is handled by the Police Department, including all 9-1-1 calls. We provide twenty-four hour dispatching services for all town agencies, including Fire and Emergency Medical Services. The department offers a variety of services to our citizens. Some of these include a child safety seat technician, firearms safety certification course, a reassurance program, and a crime prevention officer. The Marion Police Department belongs to the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEM-LEC). The council is made up of twenty-two communities to provide mutual aid resources and collaboration. The council has a Rapid Response Team, Search and Rescue Team, and Marine/Dive Team. Five officers from this department are assigned to the various units.
